We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our team at an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and guidance to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential and promote their overall well-being. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals with diverse needs.

£80 - £90 a day

- Provide one-on-one or group support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement individualized education and care plans for students.
- Assist students in developing their social, emotional, and life skills through tailored interventions and activities.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting teaching materials to meet their individual needs.
- Help students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students' physical and emotional well-being is maintained at all times.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining open communication channels.

Exigences

  • Enhanced Child and Adult DBS - ideally on Update Service (or willing to apply).

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge and understanding of different types of special educational needs and associated strategies for support.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students with diverse needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Basic understanding of educational practices and curriculum adaptations for students with special educational needs.

  • Ability to handle challenging behaviours and adapt strategies to meet individual students' needs.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and ever-changing school environment.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in youth work, special educational needs, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
