About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our team at an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and guidance to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential and promote their overall well-being. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals with diverse needs.
£80 - £90 a day
- Provide one-on-one or group support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement individualized education and care plans for students.
- Assist students in developing their social, emotional, and life skills through tailored interventions and activities.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting teaching materials to meet their individual needs.
- Help students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students' physical and emotional well-being is maintained at all times.
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining open communication channels.
Requirements
Enhanced Child and Adult DBS - ideally on Update Service (or willing to apply).
Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
Knowledge and understanding of different types of special educational needs and associated strategies for support.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students with diverse needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Basic understanding of educational practices and curriculum adaptations for students with special educational needs.
Ability to handle challenging behaviours and adapt strategies to meet individual students' needs.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and ever-changing school environment.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Relevant certifications or qualifications in youth work, special educational needs, or related fields are advantageous but not essential.
